{"id":2154,"date":"2024-04-25T13:22:58","date_gmt":"2024-04-25T11:22:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.claire-ebendinger.fr\/?page_id=2154"},"modified":"2024-04-25T13:29:36","modified_gmt":"2024-04-25T11:29:36","slug":"connect-the-dots-comparing-preschool-with-riding-exercices","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.claire-ebendinger.fr\/?page_id=2154","title":{"rendered":"Connect the Dots"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Comparing preschool with riding exercices and their emphasis on repetition<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-82675327e0784c9f6aa005e85e6146f0\">I conducted an exhaustive visual research during which I gathered preschool exercises aiming at training children to write and count (left pages), which I confronted with diagrams of jumping trails, or horse-riding workouts (right pages). Both corpuses emphasize control, discipline and repetition as means to complete predetermined trails as flawlessly as possible. This book proposes to show the ideological resonances between compulsory schooling and animal domestication. It does so by examining the formal similarities between the pedagogical material both fields systematically produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4c31c896ca27a3413d068c83dddf9e1c\">The catalogue of images is preceded by a text compiling various lessons, poems and song lyrics. These were extracted from my own school notebooks (age 7-13).
