Gemischte Blätter consists of weaving sheets of paper made from original GDR material (12 × 17 cm). Paper weaving, which is a domestic activity, fits well into the setting of an appartment, and especially that of a plattenbau. Plattenbauten are buildings assembled from factory-produced, concrete slabs and were heavily used in the former East Germany (GDR) to address housing shortages from the 1960s to the 1990s. The presentation of the series in a Plattenbau apartment thus also makes sense formaly, as both are shaped by principles such as modularity, repetition, and functionality. When scanned in Black and white, the architectural qualities of some of the paper weavings become particularly apparent. For this reason, the motifs were printed at a large scale. The A4 prints were arranged on the wall piece by piece—like Plattenbau modules assembled one element at a time.
